Underwater Cutting and Drilling

Diamond Hire and Sales were approached by Morgan Farrans when it came to concrete cutting and drilling underwater for their Belfast sewer project at Duncrue Waste Water Treatment Works.  

Divers were employed to diamond drill holes in reinforced concrete fifteen metres underwater and required a rig and motor that would be small and easy to use as visability was very poor.

Diamond Hire and Sales introduced Morgan Farrans to the Hydraulic Magnum drill and drill rig powered by a Hycon variable speed 40 litre 3 phase power pack. Their objective was to drill 70mm diameter holes to remove sections of concrete.

Once the sections of concrete were segregated, 50mm diameter holes were drilled and Morgan Farrens employed a Diamond Hire and Sales Hydraulic Darda Burster to split and break the lumps to manageable
sizes for removal.

 

Cutting Concrete on the Surface

Morgan Farrans were also interested in cutting concrete on the surface and were particularly interested in our hydraulic ring saw and hydraulic chain saw which could be mounted on tracks to limit users fatigue.

Morgan Farrans hired both the ring saw and the chain saw which proved to be successful. They realised the equipment was a major step forward and purchased the saws from Diamond Hire and Sales for on going and future contracts.
